The LJMU Virtual Desktop allows you to access various applications, databases and electronic resources via the web browser on your own device.  This runs a virtual student desktop with OneDrive access incorporating single sign on for use with Office, Canvas and Discover including access to Library databases.  The service hosts a variety of LJMU software that can be found via the Start Menu

To access the Virtual Desktop:

  1. Visit the Virtual Desktop site.
  2. Click the link under Accessing the virtual desktop heading to start the service. Alternatively, click here directly.
  3. Sign in with username@ljmu.ac.uk  - a further login box will display, enter username@ljmu.ac.uk and your password.
  4. Select the Windows 10 icon. You will be prompted to give the Virtual Desktop access to local resources – this is to allow you to interact with the Clipboard on your device (to Copy and Paste to and from the Virtual Desktop) and your Microphone. Tick as required and select Allow.
  5. You will be prompted to enter your LJMU password again, click Submit.

The Virtual Desktop will now load. For apps you would like to run please browse through the Start menu or type in the ‘Type here to search’ bar. Be sure to save any work regularly.

When you have finished your session select the Start button within the Virtual Desktop, select your name/user icon and click Sign Out. You can now close your browser.

For further information please visit the Virtual Desktop page.
