There is an issue with SPSS and the latest MacOS 14 Sonoma which requires a fix to be applied. After installing SPSS you may see a window appear: 'Login Server' error on macOS Sonoma. To fix this:

Ensure all instances of SPSS are closed. From the SPSS download page select the 'ZIP FORMAT FOR MAC SONOMA FIX'. Click Submit and Download to download the fix zip folder.

1. Go to "Go" from the menu bar and then click on "Go to Folder".

2. Paste the following file path:

/Applications/IBM SPSS Statistics/SPSS Statistics.app/Contents/lib/

3. Locate the file "libplatdep.dylib" and copy it to the desktop.

4. Open the macOS Sonoma Fix Files from the download folder.

5. Copy the interim fix file to the v29 installation folder, specifically the "libplatdep.dylib" file.

6. Replace the original file by pasting the new file in the same location. A warning pop-up will appear. Click "Replace".

7. Enter the user system administrator password.

8. Open the Mac terminal window and paste the following command:

sudo chmod 755 /Applications/IBM\ SPSS\ Statistics/SPSS\statistics.app/Contents/lib/libplatdep.dylib

9. Enter the user system administrator password.

10. You can now open SPSS and follow the activation wizard.
