Please note: EndNote Desktop is not compatible with cloud-based storage systems - you should not open your EndNote Library from your M: Drive or OneDrive.
We recommend your save your EndNote Library files in the Temp folder on the C: Drive of your LJMU device to prevent errors or list files:
- Open your existing EndNote Library file on the M: Drive
- Save a compressed version of your EndNote Library into OneDrive:
- Click File
- Choose Compressed Library (.enlx)
- When the file window opens, check that ‘Create’ and ‘All References in Library’ are selected. Click Next
- Select the OneDrive folder as the location where you wish to save your Compressed Library and click Save
- To use the Library – you need to download and save a copy of your EndNote Library on the C: Drive of your LJMU staff PC/device:
- Open Windows Explorer
- Double-click This PC
- Double-click OSDisk (C:)
- Double-click the temp folder
- Paste the EndNote Library file into the temp folder
- Open your EndNote Library and work on it locally. You can keep your EndNote Library file in the temp folder on the C: Drive indefinitely if you are the only person using the PC/device. However, it is good practice to keep a backup copy of your references.
- To save a backup copy of your references, you can either:
- Save a new compressed version of your EndNote Library once you have finished working and store it in OneDrive again. Delete the original compressed file. Steps 2 - 4 have would have to be repeated each time you want to open and work on your EndNote Library.
- Use the Sync Library facility to securely save a copy of your references online. Please Note: You will need to register for an EndNote Online account to use this facility.
